This historic renovation project, known previously as the Gore Building, is an emblematic transformation of a prominent block corner in Downtown Lakeland. The 20,000 SF, two-story building, constructed around 1926, first served as the Seaboard Service Station and later became the Victory Grocery – and Monarch Grocery – around 1938. Between the 1940s and 1960s, it served as a distribution center for the Eli Witt Cigar Company. The building’s redesign is centered around the history and ethos of the Cigar Company. Major exterior components included the flat canopy roof, a new recessed patio, outdoor seating/gathering space which features a brick garden wall + aluminum storefront display windows. The design also included branded exterior signage + details that honor the building’s history.
